2006-Present: Katalysis - Bootstrap Banking
World Runners has placed over $17,000 in the Katalysis Bootstrap Banking program. The program extends small loans, microcredit, to very poor people in Central America to finance self-employment projects that generate extra income. With increased earnings from their businesses, the bootstrap bankers – 66% of them women – gradually lift their families out of poverty. Inevitably, housing conditions improve, as does family nutrition and educational opportunities for the children. Most importantly, the cycle of crippling poverty is broken and replaced by dignity, self-respect, and hope for the future. That is the power of Bootstrap Banking!

2002-Present: The Marlene Assell Memorial Scholarship Program
World Runners is supporting an education program created by Dr. Linda Lea, the Education Director of Global Partners for Development, that will change the lives of many young women in Africa forever. Investing in the education of girls is an investment in the future. Making it possible for bright, ambitious young women, who otherwise would drop out, to continue their education and attend secondary school is key to positive change in Africa.
