World Runners is an organization of runners committed to the advancement of health, prosperity, and peace in the communities of the world. World Runners’ purpose is to raise funds by running for pledges and accepting donations for programs that transform the conditions of health, finance, and education for women and children in
the world. Internationally we sponsor secondary education of girls in the Maasai highlands of East Africa and microfinance in
Central America.
A small percentage of the proceeds from local fund raising events, like the Run for a Healthy World, are given to selected local charities.
For the past 30 years World Runners
has helped people, especially women and
children, improve the quality of their lives.
To date we have raised and donated over
7 million reaching hundreds of families.
Major World Runners milestones include the Moscow Peace Marathons through the 1980′s. One thousand runners raised two million dollars for organizations combating world hunger. The message of a joint U.S.-Soviet partnership for a better world reached hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
The Save the Children Relays involved 25,000 participants who raised over $1 million for child health programs in the U.S. and internationally. Over 100,000 children were immunized against fatal childhood diseases. Two transcontinental relays carried the child survival messages throughout the U.S. and 10 other nations, gaining proclamations from scores of national, state and local governments.
Other major fundraising campaigns raised over $4 million through teams running for pledges at the Boston, Oakland, New York and other major marathons, as well as hundreds of other large and small events.
At the beginning of the New Millennium, World Runners reemerged as an organization under the charter of Global Partners for Development. World Runners is adding to past accomplishments and recapturing the spirit of advancing the quality of life in the communities of the world.

- We value personal commitment, quality contributions, integrity, openness and transparency, and team work.
- We are mindful that our mission is accomplished through the generosity of our volunteers, sponsors and participants.
- We focus on acknowledgment, appreciation and validation of all contributors and volunteers.
- Volunteer work assignments will be chosen by the volunteers. World Runners will maintain a list of opportunities for contributions. The officers of the organization have job descriptions.
- The governing principle for volunteer contributions is that the person gets more value out of it than he/she puts in.
- We keep faith in public trust through efficient, compassionate, cost-effective management of resources.
